Hey everybody, what a great year! We had a lovely recital at the end of June, many thanks to performers and attendees. It was an absolute pleasure to host/see/perform, and I’ve included a link to (at least, for now) my performance below, replete with its hiccups.
To everyone who finished books this year, found new skills, and/or put your energy into learning more about our musical world, I thank you with all my heart. Your perseverance and hard work inspire me. I can’t wait to get back at it this impending season.
That said I’m excited to announce I’m accepting new students for the upcoming season. Lessons begin in August, as individual scheduling allows. If you/your child is interested in adding music as a facet to their life, please click here, and we’ll help you on your musical path.
This year I’m going to be incorporating monthly group classes where we’ll get to play games, learn broad concepts together, make up songs, and more. Naturally there will be snacks. As I envision it we’ll have between six and eight of these Piano Parties per season, to shamelessly borrow a fun title from Katie Levine, a colleague I admire. This is of course in addition to the twice annual recitals.
Otherwise I attended my first professional conference in June, hosted by the Washington State Music Teachers’ Association! Between seminars and conversation I got to meet a wonderful bunch of committed music teachers and find lots of exciting new material I’ve been looking over. From new technical/repertoire books like those by the Royal Conservatory series, to games and resources to keep our lessons fresh and ever evolving, I couldn’t be happier to have so much cool stuff to discover and share with my students.
Wishing you all the best in the meantime,
Ryan
